ABOUT ME
Yukako Fujimori is a Japanese-American writer and director from Irvine, CA passionate about telling stories that center self-identity and the obstacles she has faced as an Asian-American woman. She graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a BFA in Film and TV Production and was 1 out of 4 students selected by an esteemed panel of faculty to direct a senior thesis after advancing through a multi round pitch process. Her thesis has gone on to be selected by NFFTY, Chattanooga Film Festival, and even winning best Horror Short at the DC Shorts Film Festival. She is a Jon M. Chu APAA Cinematic Arts Scholarship Recipient which is awarded to filmmakers who push social change in the Asian-American community. She has directed Academy award winning actor Chris Tashima, has interned with NBCUniversal, Iconic Talent Agency, A+E, CAPE, and was also selected by The Getty Foundation to work with Go For Broke, a nonprofit organization in Little Tokyo dedicated to supporting the Japanese-American World War II veterans who fought for America even in the face of discrimination. In addition to filmmaking, she’s immersed in music having played the trombone and tuba and enjoys creating niche spotify playlists, she’s also a food enthusiast and an avid Yelp user always looking for new food/restaurants to try.
